Carrying farmer priorities into district policy dialogue

Rural farming households are the group most affected by agricultural policy and the least present when it is written. ISSED works on both ends of that gap.

ISSED’s advocacy work rests on a simple asymmetry: the households most affected by agricultural policy are rarely in the room when it is decided.

The organisation carries farmer priorities into dialogue with government ministries, district structures and development partners — grounded in evidence from its own field monitoring rather than in general argument.

Two directions at once

Downward, ISSED strengthens the community structures through which people act on decisions locally, with explicit attention to the share of women and young people holding leadership roles.

Progress is tracked through policy dialogues held, recommendations submitted or adopted, and partnerships established.
